Publishing

Chapters are the unit of release. Publish a chapter, then the story, and readers on Browse can play it instantly — no account, no install.

Chapters

First-class entities with their own status lifecycle.

StatusMeaning
DraftBeing written. Not playable by readers.
ReadyCompiles cleanly — can be published.
LivePublished. Visible to players.

A chapter must compile before it can go live. Releasing in chapters lets you ship an opening, get readers, and keep the story growing — players are carried into the next chapter automatically when you publish it.

Publish a story

Two gates: the chapter, then the story.

  1. Publish at least one chapter from the story page.
  2. Publish the story — it becomes visible on Browse and gets its own play page.
Unpublishing works the same way — take a chapter or story down from the same controls. Playtest in the Studio is always available regardless of publish state.

Scheduled releases

Queue a chapter to go live at a time you choose.

Set a release date on a draft chapter and it publishes automatically when the time comes. Players who reach the end of your latest chapter see a “Coming soon — releases [date]” screen instead of a dead end, which keeps momentum for serialised stories.

Analytics

See how readers actually played — measured, never fabricated.

Your dashboard’s Analytics page shows real, captured reader activity for every published story:

Plays & readers

Sessions started and distinct readers — anonymous and signed-in players both count.

Avg. session & completion

How long readers stay and how many reach the end of the latest published chapter.

Use it to learn where stories land — a low completion rate on chapter one usually means a weak hook, not a broken story.
